2nd Single, "All Lies", Streaming & Downloadable!

In honor of the first of May, Haley Bowery & the Manimals are very happy to premiere their second single from Born Strange- the closing track, "All Lies". It's a hooky powerpop anthem about revealing insecurity, and it's now available to stream and download from this site! Just click play on the bar at the bottom of the window. Alternatively, if you would like to download a lossless file (i.e. not an MP3), you can use our Bandcamp widget to receive virtually any type of file you'd like. Just as with "29" in April, "All Lies" is totally free!

Haley says: "'All Lies' is about internal contradictions... choosing to be a bad bitch or someone more open-hearted, knowing that the latter brings a lot of hurt. Maybe being bold and being vulnerable aren't mutually exclusive. The main point of the song is, you can't be hard forever, you might end up missing your whole life."

The Premiere of the Official "29" Music Video!

Haley Bowery & the Manimals are proud to present their first music video! It is a homemade labor of love straight from Haley's bedroom. The male backing vocals on the track belong to Matthew Pop, so it was only fitting to have him star in the video alongside Haley. Enjoy the personal photos of them growing up! This is a story about staying a child on the inside for as long as you can.

Indie music blog Resonance reviewed BORN STRANGE, and had a lot of great things to say! The record is described as "hard and glamourous... fast-paced rock and roll accompanies seething reckless vocals". The review also features the track "29". Read the whole thing here!

Haley Bowery featured on RUST Magazine Radar!

Haley Bowery & the Manimals were recently featured on RUST Magazine's Radar, in anticipation of the upcoming album Born Strange. The early review is a rave! RUST says, "This album is going to resound with audiences thirsty for musicians willing to put their performance ahead of production. It's raw, one-on-one music that's so good it makes you wonder... where have the bands like this been for the last 30 years?" Read the whole thing here.

Album Reviewed by Falling Down on the Random!

Born Strange received a glowing review from entertainment blog Falling Down on the Random: "I just want to mosh to this album whenever I get a chance to hear it live. This album is for our generation, the ones that lived [through] Kurt Cobain's death... the music that we go back to, to escape the pop, electro and bullshit hip-hop of today." Born Strange is also described as "the album of the year"! No offense, pop, electro and bullshit hip-hop. Read the rest here.

First Single from BORN STRANGE Now Streaming!

Haley Bowery & the Manimals are thrilled to announce that Born Strange has been completed! Photographer Susan Hennessey has been shooting all of the album and promotional photos, and Evan Baumeister of Cursed Out Productions in Long Beach, CA is beginning work on the physical CD layout and design. To the right, you can see a sneak peek of the cover art!

On the site-wide music player (at the bottom of the page), you can stream the first single, "29"- and if you'd like a free download of the song, all you have to do is join the mailing list in the box above. A confirmation email will be sent to you, which will instruct you on how to begin the download. Haley, Pat, Joe & Attis thank you for your consistent support, and hope you like the song!

Haley says about the first single:
"'29' is an indie-pop song about grasping onto pieces of your youth and trying to figure out how to feel that way again. You wish you could've been there with the person you love, in his dorm room, driving in the suburbs. I try to evoke those sweet, simple things that taste like your very first time doing something exciting and stupid- like how I used to sneak beers and set off illegal fireworks in the park with my buddies when we were sixteen. Running into the woods to watch them explode is the sort of high you always want to recreate, and to share with your adult friends and lovers. You want to give that feeling as a gift to somebody who's grown cynical and lost sight."
